Since 2016, the EU has paid billions of euros to Turkey to prevent migrants and refugees from reaching Europe. Ten years on, the agreement continues to shape lives along Turkey’s borders.

In Pushback – Stories of Border Violence, migrants recount experiences of beatings, pushbacks and forced returns. We also follow a human rights lawyer working to defend people caught in a system where violence and impunity have become part of the border regime.
